Has any WWE superstars won three consecutive Royal Rumble matches?
The first Royal Rumble match was held in 1988
The Royal Rumble PLE is one of the five biggest events of the Stamford-based promotion, along with WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank. Together they are referred to as the “Big Five”.
The Royal Rumble is a professional wrestling match that follows Battle Royal rules, where participants eliminate opponents by tossing them over the top rope. The match usually features 30 competitors, with two wrestlers starting, and new entrants joining every 90 seconds until all participants are in the ring.
The first Royal Rumble PLE is usually held in late January with the 2025 edition being an exception as it is being held in early February. The PLE initially featured only men’s Rumble match, the women’s match was added to the PLE in 2018 and since then the PLE has featured two Rumble matches.
Since its inception in 1988 there have been multiple big names that have won the Rumble match, among these winners there are a handful of stars that have created unique records during their appearance in the match.
Stone Cold is the only star to win the match three times
There are a total of nine stars who have won the Rumble match twice these include stars such as Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Batista, Triple H, Randy Orton, Edge, Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes.
However, Stone Cold Steve Austin is the only star to win the Rumble match three times, but we are talking about three consecutive wins. Stone Cold won the match three separate times in 1997, 1998, and 2001.
When it comes to three consecutive Royal Rumble wins, no WWE superstar has been able to achieve the feat. There are stars who have won the Rumble match two consecutive, this includes stars such as Cody Rhodes, Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, and Shawn Michaels.
Cody Rhodes won the Rumble match in 2023 and 2024 but he is the current Undisputed WWE Champion which means he won’t be competing in the 2025 Royal Rumble match. As of now, there is no superstar in the promotion who is in line to achieve this incredible record.
